FORM 4 PLAY
THEATRE PLAY * * * * * THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES * * * * *
‘The Emperor’s new clothes’ was an adaptation from Hans Christian Andersen’s well-known fairy tale, in order to be performed by these 9-year-old students. The story is about a ridiculously vain ruler, whose main and only concern was having new clothes all the time, even one different piece of clothing for each day if he possibly could.
However, he happens to meet two tricky tailors who offer to make for him the most marvellous clothes he’s ever seen: clothes silly people can’t see. As a consequence, seeing this as another opportunity to show off, the emperor hires these two ‘tailors’ that do nothing but cheat on him and it’s only at the very end of the story that a little, innocent child makes him face the truth in front of the whole town: he has no clothes on!
All in all, an enjoyable, memorable play for both children and parents.
